The challenge
A large-format gym carries loads a conventional retail unit does not: HVAC for high occupancy, plumbing for showers and locker rooms, electrical capacity for equipment, technical flooring and acoustic treatment. It is often built inside existing premises that must be adapted.
Add the challenge of any roll-out: opening several units in different cities with the same image and the same standard.
What we did
- Construction of the first Planet Fitness unit in Mexico.
- Construction of 13 additional units within the same program, across 6 markets.
- Specialized systems: HVAC, plumbing, electrical and acoustics sized for gym operation.
- Coordination with each property and with the brand's operations teams for opening.
Result
14 gyms in operation. An international brand's first location in Mexico became a 14-unit program: the pattern we have repeated with Forever 21, Old Navy and Chili's.
Replication
What was learned on the first unit — system sizing, suppliers, recurring details — was applied to the following 13. That is the fifth stage of the AC Delivery System.
